Botox Injections - For A Youthful Skin and More!
Botox is a prescription medication that is injected in small amounts into the muscles responsible for facial expressions. It works by temporarily preventing muscle contractions, which smooths out lines and wrinkles, giving the skin a softer, more youthful appearance.
Botox injections are most commonly used to treat the following:
- Crow’s feet
- Lines between the eyebrows
- Frown lines
- Horizontal lines across the forehead
- Glabellar lines
- Smoker’s lines
For patients with mild to moderate forms of TMJ disorder, Botox treatment can be an effective, non-invasive treatment option. BOTOX works by relaxing the muscles to prevent grinding, clenching, and movement of the jaw. This can provide relief from symptoms associated with TMJ disorder, such as headaches, earaches, and teeth grinding.
How Does Botox Work?
Botox is a gel-like substance produced from a neurotoxin called botulinum toxin A. This toxin blocks the nerve activity in the facial muscles, which leads to wrinkle formation. When the muscles are relaxed, the skin above the muscle also relaxes. With less tension on the skin, the wrinkles smooth out.
During Treatment: During the initial consultation, we will evaluate your medical history and give you more information about what to expect. Several injections will be made into specific areas of the face, such as frown lines, forehead creases, or crow’s feet.
After: You can expect to return to your normal daily routine soon after the procedure; also, make sure not to rub or massage the treated areas, as it can make the toxin migrate onto a different area.
